What Is Legacy Giving?

Legacy Giving is a vehicle that allows you to make a charitable gift that leaves a lasting legacy.  A Legacy Gift allows you to meet your philanthropic goal of leaving a long lasting gift to Birchmount Bluffs Neighbourhood Centre (BBNC), while meeting your personal and financial objectives, and lowering your income and estate taxes.

Legacy Giving Vehicles

There are many ways to make a Legacy Gift.  The most common type of Legacy Giving vehicle is a bequest:

Bequests

This is an option for people who would like to help strengthen the long-term viability of BBNC but feel they cannot afford to make such a gift today.  A bequest by will is the best method available to do so.  The advantages of making a bequest are:

• It is not payable until death, so it does not affect your assets or cash flow during your lifetime.
• It is private - your will is not filed or made public until your death.
• It is revocable - you can change the provisions in your will or trust at any time until death.
